Summer School on Transitional Justice 2010

Gender, Conflict and Transition

7-11 June 2010, Magee campus

The Transitional Justice Institute is pleased to announce its 3rd annual Summer School on Transitional Justice: Gender, Conflict and Transition.

The Summer School will be held from 7-11 June 2010 at the Magee Campus of the University of Ulster. The Summer School is a week long residential course, consisting of a series of interactive lectures, workshops and roundtable discussions which this year will address the theme of gender and transitional justice.

The summer school is open to anyone with an interest in Transitional Justice. Previous courses have attracted participants from a wide range of international and non-governmental organisations, as well as from universities and government Ministries. These have included participants from Amnesty International; the United Nations, and the OSCE, as well as students from a range of European universities and participants from locally based NGOs such as the Citizens Advice Bureau. This range of participants contributes significantly to the calibre of debate at the summer school, as the wide range of experience and perspective represented pushes the boundaries of received knowledge.

For the second year, the TJI is pleased to run the summer school in partnership with INCORE. This partnership includes a joint Northern Ireland Programme through which participants are given an overview of some of the key debates facing Northern Ireland as it tries to build a more peaceful future. These joint sessions also provide opportunities for participants to extend their networks by meet those attending the INCORE Summer School and to participate in a joint social programme.
